Summary of the challenge addressed:
On a tight budget ColorCentric Corporation was looking for a solution to automatically package their photo-book products for direct-to-consumer shipments as well as separate their shipments that would be case packed and sent in bulk to photo studios. Their volumes indicated that a labor reduction was important, but accurately separating orders, reducing the number of touches, capturing weight information, and improving turnaround times were critical features the system needed to have.

Systems Technology, Inc. located and sold ColorCentric a used Series 1000 machine with SecurePack™ capabilities and many modern upgrades. The system consisted of integrating an existing shrink wrapper and heat tunnel, relocating a weigh-in-motion scale, separating the direct-to-consumer orders from the back to studio orders. The main cartoning system was reconfigured to be able to run STI’s patented SecurePack™ technology and to process orders with significantly less labor and much faster turnaround times. The system was also equipped with down stream error trapping, dual print and apply label applicators, and a 4 bin carrier sorter with jackpot. This system offered huge labor savings, faster throughput, and a drastic increase in production capacity for future growth.
